CEVA ATHLETE SUCCESS FUND

THE DEADLINE FOR CASF APPLICATIONS HAS PASSED FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON.  LATE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

WHAT IS THE CASF?

The CEVA Athlete Success Fund (CASF) is a program administered by the region designed to help student-athletes in need pay for some or all of their club dues.  The fund does not cover initial membership costs or tryout fees, but funds can be applied toward the student-athlete's account with their club.

APPLICATION TIMELINE

October 1, 2024 - Scholarship applications available via the CEVA website at 9:00 AM.

November 30, 2024 - Scholarship application deadline at 3:00.  Late applications will not be considered.

Week of December 1, 2024 - Committee will evaluate all applications and make decisions on financial aid awards.

Week of December 8, 2024 - Committee will begin process of notifying applicants of their status and if they've been selected to receive financial aid.  All applicants will have an answer no later than December 14, 2024.  Please DO NOT contact the CEVA office to inquire about the status of your application prior to this date.

January, 2025 - Process of distributing scholarship funds to clubs begins.  Scholarships are not distributed prior to this date.  Funding will not be available for tryout fees, deposits, etc.  Contact your club director for questions on payments to clubs.

AWARD AMOUNTS

Financial aid awards range from $500 to $1,500.  If an applicant’s club dues are less than $500, the scholarship award should match what the club dues are, and the excess is returned to the fund.

Not all applicants will receive funding.  This is an extremely competitive application process.  Applications that are incomplete, lacking documentation, or that do not follow directions will be disqualified.  Submission of an application does not guarantee funding will be awarded.

FINANCIAL NEED

The applicant must demonstrate financial need by providing one of the following forms of documentation:

  • Proof of free or reduced lunch enrollment from their school district.
  • Proof of enrollment in, or a statement of benefits from, a state-funded or state-administered health care plan (e.g., the Oregon Health Plan).
  • Proof of enrollment in a state-funded or state-administered food benefits plan (e.g., the Oregon Trail program, Washington Basic Food program, or SNAP).

The above documentation is the only documentation accepted.  Other forms of documentation, such as tax returns, paychecks, or bank statements are not accepted and may cause your application to be disqualified.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

The applicant is required to have a USAV membership in the current season to be considered, and that membership must be upgraded from a tryout membership by the application deadline.  Scholarships will only be distributed to student-athletes who commit to a team.

Applications and/or documentation received that is unreadable, applications that are missing documentation or required information, will not be considered.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS & ESSAYS

The application asks for the following basic information from the applicant, including name, address, age, USAV member number, parent/guardian names & contact information, and anticipated club dues for the 2024-2025 season.

The application also asks 4 essay questions the applicant (not a parent/guardian) must answer.  The essay questions are below:

  • What specifically draws you to volleyball and serves as your motivation to play this sport?
  • What are your goals for the upcoming volleyball season?  What are your goals for the future beyond club volleyball and how do you plan to achieve them?  In what ways do you believe volleyball can contribute to your personal growth and development?
  • Describe a moment or achievement in your life that stands out to you and explain why it holds such significance (this does not have to be something specific to volleyball).
  • Community & school involvement is important to us. Please share any community service projects or school-based initiatives you have been involved in (examples – church, scouts, school, leadership positions you hold, etc.).  If you haven't participated in any, what ideas do you have for encouraging your club or teammates to get more involved? (Note: lack of community or school involvement will not disqualify you from consideration for this scholarship.)

To request a written copy of the application, please e-mail cody@cevaregion.org.  However, online submissions are strongly encouraged to ensure prompt delivery and on-time arrival.
