BEAVERTON, OR (9/18/2024) – The Columbia Empire Volleyball Association (CEVA) has created a new program designed to recognize and reward officials for outstanding service at region-owned events. 

Billed as the Officials’ Recognition Program (ORP), this initiative will accept nominations from club directors, coaches, tournament directors, players, parents, staff, or other officials to recognize those officials who go “above and beyond” in service of members at CEVA events.  The region wants to also bring exposure to those officials who go about their job in a positive manner and work well with members on site, and those officials who prioritize region events in their schedules.

The program will officially kick off in October and will be active throughout the calendar year.  Officials who are nominated will receive region-branded swag, and each month, two random drawings will be conducted to award a larger prize to a deserving official. 

CEVA’s officials are some of the best and most loyal in the country.  They are routinely seen on the court at collegiate and other high-level events, and they provide some of the best mentorship to players, coaches, and other officials.  They are professional and dedicated to getting better in all aspects of their role.  CEVA is one of only a few USA Volleyball regions with a dedicated mentoring program for younger officials, and the cadre routinely engages in additional training to develop relationships and best practices for events.  CEVA is also one of just a handful of regions that has a dedicated Officials’ Representative position on the Board of Directors and an active & engaged Officials’ Committee.
