Chaos Boys Win 18 American Division at BJNC

DALLAS, TX (7/9/2024) – Portland Chaos Boys 18-1 National captured the National Championship of the 18s Division at the USAV Boys Junior National Championships in Dallas, TX on June 30.

Believed to be the first boys’ national championship won by a CEVA team, Chaos capped off a 12-0 tournament run with a 25-19, 25-22 victory over BVC 18-1 Gersain from the Southern California region in the finals.  Chaos dropped only two sets through the entire tournament. 

Chaos is coached by Nerisa Laban, who also serves as the club director (and is a member of the CEVA Junior Boys’ Committee).  She was assisted at the tournament by Donte Jennings.  Team members included Jaeden Chen, Kent David, Gavin Hartwig, Shawn Jack, Lopaki Laban, Evan O’Neil, Steele Rheault, Ryan Roginski, Kaden Roy, Caleb Russell, Grant Szucs, and Given Unwin. 

In other action at BJNC, NPJ Portland 16B National finished tied for 3rd in the 16s American Division, and AJAX 14-1 Gold finished 13th in the 14s Club Division.  NPJ fell in the Gold semifinals to the eventual national champions.
