The CEVA Region has awarded two $750 grants to region coaches to help them defraying costs of attending the AVCA Convention.  Grant money can be used to assist with registration, travel, and educational costs associated with the convention.

To be eligible for the grant, coaches must come from, or serve, and under-represented or under-served population, must be a current eligible CEVA member.  Grant applications were accepted during the month of September.

The convention, held in conjunction with the Division 1 Women’s Volleyball Final Four, will take place in Columbus, OH from December 15-18.  It represents one of the premier educational and networking opportunities in our sport, bringing hundreds of coaches, club personnel, officials, and others together for an extended weekend.  Members of the CEVA staff attend the convention to connect with partners and stakeholders from throughout the country and to learn from administrators, coaches, and sponsors.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) represents an organization made up of coaches, club directors, and other stakeholders.  They dedicate themselves to leadership, advocacy, professional development, and growth of the sport in all disciplines.  Club coaches and clubs as a whole can join the AVCA by visiting their website – www.avca.org.  CEVA is one of several regions that maintains a standing partnership with the AVCA, allowing for easier access to educational materials, recruiting tools, and the convention for region members.

The region plans to continue this program for next year’s convention, scheduled to be held in Omaha, NE.  Look for more information about next year’s grant program in the Summer of 2022.
