CEVA has announced that tryouts for indoor junior girls’ teams may begin in November.
For student-athletes defined by USA Volleyball as 14 or younger, tryouts may begin on Sunday, November 7th.
For student-athletes defined by USA Volleyball as 15 or older, tryouts may begin on Sunday, November 21st.
(See the junior age definitions at www.cevaregion.org/seasoninfo)
These dates also mark the first day a student-athlete and their family may formally commit to a club by signing a CEVA Letter of Commitment. Financial payments to clubs for season dues are not permitted prior to these dates.
Student-athletes who may intend to apply for an age waiver must try out with their USAV-defined age group. For example, a 15-year-old who may apply for a waiver to play on a 14s team must still try out with the 15-and-older group.
Families will see a change to the Letter of Commitment this year, whereby they will be asked to commit to a club, not to an individual team within a club. Clubs may assign players to teams at their discretion, so it becomes important for families and student-athletes to do their homework prior to attending tryouts. Families need to make sure they have all the information they feel they need in order to make an informed decision on which club to participate with.
Memberships for the 2021-2022 season will be available on CEVA’s website starting September 1st. On that same day, clubs will be sent activation materials needed for the upcoming season. Once clubs become active for the season, they will be permitted to post tryout dates on our website and request certificates of insurance.
The CEVA season is tentatively slated to begin with two weekends of kickoff tournaments, on December 11-12 and December 18-19. The full schedule will be announced in August.
