CEVA Update on Diversity & Inclusion Plans

On May 30th, we published a statement expressing our anger and sadness surrounding the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the many others who have died needlessly in recent years.  In that statement, we also expressed our optimism that these circumstances would lead to an opportunity to bring meaningful change within our community.

Since that time, our staff has been working on a comprehensive set of ideas and concepts that could be implemented within our region.

These ideas have been vetted by numerous individuals both inside and outside the CEVA community.  We’ve opened dialogues with our committees, our partners, and many others.

On Thursday, June 25th, we presented these ideas to the CEVA Diversity & Inclusion Committee.  The group agreed that the plan, while aggressive, was entirely within the realm of possibility.

Our staff has taken those ideas and turned them into an “action plan,” which outlines the tangible steps needed to accomplish what was outlined.  This action plan is currently being vetted by the Executive Committee of the CEVA Board of Directors.  It will then be shared with the full Board.

Once the Board signs off, the action plan will be put into motion.  We will be publishing our concepts and ideas broadly on our website and social media, and we will work closely with the Board and Diversity & Inclusion Committee to assist in implementation.

We look forward to publishing these ideas and moving them closer to reality.  Some are already in progress, including a significant revamp of our #VTC website

As always, if members of our community have suggestions about anything else we can do, please reach out to us via e-mail
