EXPLAINER

This tournament is intended for teams who wish to compete for a bid to USAV Boys' National Championships in Dallas.  Clubs should only register teams for this event if they are intending to participate in these National events.  Ensure you understand the bid acceptance requirements outlined on this page prior to registering.

PAYMENT POLICIES

All teams who have qualified for the Bid Tournament must submit their tournament entry fee via AES no later than 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 27th.  Entry fee is $215 per team.  A 3% non-refundable credit card processing fee is associated with all online payments.  To discourage late cancellations from this event, all teams who qualify for the Bid Tournament will be required to pay the entry fee, regardless of if they participate.

REGISTRATION

Registration for the Boys' BJNC Bid Tournament is via AES.  More teams will be allowed to register than capacity allows (see note regarding tournament capacity).  Teams will not pay the entry fee until they are accepted.  By registering, you agree to the policies on this page and in the Junior Handbook pertaining to this event.  Registrations are accepted only via AES and will not be accepted by phone, e-mail, or other means.

BID HIERARCHY

Note - USAV makes determinations in the Fall about how many bids each region receives.  Information below assumes CEVA receives an American Bid, though these are not guaranteed.

The champion of each age group at the CEVA Bid Tournament receives the region's American Bid.  Other bids (e.g., USA, Open) must be earned at a USAV National Qualifier.

QUALIFICATION

Qualification for the Boys Bid Tournament is based on points earned through participation in the season's USAV-sanctioned tournaments.  Points are awarded based on size of division fields and finishes.  See the Junior Boys' Handbook for the full qualification policy.

BID ACCEPTANCE

Teams must accept bids earned at this event.  If a team earns a higher bid at a later date or already has a higher bid, the bid at this tournament trickles down to the next highest finisher.  Teams who do not earn a bid at our Bid Tournament are placed on a waiting list to accept a trickle-down in-region bid later, should one become available.  The waiting list is populated in order of finish.  Teams asked later in the year if they wish to accept a bid through this process are not required to accept.

LOCATIONS

Both the 16s and 18s divisions of the CEVA Boys' Bid Tournament will be played at Olympus Sports Center in Hillsboro.

Locations are subject to change

WORK TEAMS

Work teams will provide an R2, table crew, and line judges.  An R1 will be provided on all matches.  In some cases, an R2 will also be provided.  If CEVA does not provide an R2, a rostered adult must serve as the R2.

FORMAT

Divisions with 8 teams will be split into two 4-team double-elimination brackets, with the winners of the two brackets playing each other to determine the final order of finish.  In 8-team brackets, placement matches will be played out to 6th place.  Each age group can accept 8 teams.  Please consult the Junior Boys' Handbook for formats should a division not reach the 8-team capacity.

WARM-UP PROTOCOL

The first two rounds of all divisions will have 5 minutes shared warm-up time, followed by 4 minutes for the serving team, and 4 minutes for the receiving team (5-4-4).

All subsequent rounds will have 2 minutes shared, followed by 4 minutes each for the serving and receiving teams (2-4-4).
